When Monday is looming, it can make you feel so much better to meal prep, knowing you have a week’s worth of healthy meals to look forward to. Meal prepping is the smart way to not only save tons of money when you step out of the office to go for lunch every day but is ideal if you are looking to keep track of what you are eating.  Would you like to be more organised when it comes to your daily meals? Read on for some of our excellent meal prep tips.

Plan, plan, plan

Before you even begin you need to think about what you want to do first. How many lunches do you need to prep? How long will it take you to make it all? Write everything down and stick your weekly plan to the fridge so you can remind yourself if you forget.

Meal prep on Sundays

No matter what time you batch cook your meals – make sure you get it all done on a Sunday. You can put the containers in the freezer as well to keep them fresh for later in the week. A little extra effort goes a long way when trying to get into shape.

Get marinating

If you are worried about eating plain, dull and boring meals, then spice up your life with a tasty marinade. Marinate fish and chicken over the weekend in herbs and spices and keep in the fridge until you’re ready to cook it in the wok or oven.

Commit to breakfast

Can’t face prepping every single meal? Ease yourself in with meal prepping by just putting together your breakfasts for the first week. So many studies have shown that eating a decent breakfast each morning helps you to stop snacking on unhealthy foods throughout the day. 

Cook once, eat twice

Do you hate slaving away over the hob? For some of us, the thought of spending all day batch cooking fills us with dread. Instead, try buying food in bulk so when you make your lunch or evening meal there will be so much extra food to take to work the following day.

Think meal prep when shopping

Try to buy lots of protein, Greek yoghurt, eggs, rice and other foods in bulk at the supermarket when it is on offer. Select foods to be used in a multitude of different meals. It will make meal prep so much easier for you – especially if you forget to pick something up and you already have it in your kitchen cupboard. A massive time saver!
