'Plucking Hairs Could Prevent Baldness'

July 05, 2016

  • Half of men are bald or balding by the age of 50
  • Researchers have now found plucking hair causes more hair to grow
  • Breakthrough for those suffering from embarrassing hair loss

It’s something that all men fear – going bald! Well, their fears may be no more after researchers at the University of Southern California appear to have found a fix and it’s not as complicated as you may think. The simple fix is by plucking! It seems a strange notion – removing hair to grow more back, but researchers found that for every 200 hairs plucked, 1,300 more grew back.  Although researchers are still continuing with their studies, this is great news for all those that suffer from baldness.

Baldness is a common problem among men and it is estimated that around 50% of men suffer from male-pattern baldness by the age of 50. With celebrities such as Robbie Williams and Wayne Rooney opting for hair transplants and others taking vitamins such as zinc to protect their locks, the study seems to have found a much cheaper way to tackle baldness.

The research is seen by many in the medical field as a breakthrough! Dr. Cheng-Ming Chuong, a lead researcher said that ''[t}he work leads to potential new targets for treating alopecia, a form of hair loss''. Hair loss can be spurred on by all kinds of serious illnesses and therefore the recent findings is being considered as great news for health experts. The study remains in the early stages and therefore has a long way to go before it can be considered reliable.

However, not all in the health industry are convinced by the findings and say that although the findings were interesting they were unsure whether this would lead to a real cure for baldness.

What do you think of the recent study? Let us know and leave a comment below.
