‘’How I found the energy to workout after a long day at the office’’

July 17, 2015

Over the last year alone Forza has worked with thousands of dieters to help them achieve their weight loss and fitness goals. We receive hundreds of emails from those that we have helped on their slimming journey and here we share with you one dieter’s tale.

‘You did it!’, as I crossed the finish line of my very first 10k race I couldn’t quite believe how far I had come. Just six months ago walking up the stairs would have made me break a sweat and here I was running! Building up my stamina and getting fit was a hard challenge; I had never been much of an athlete and was always the last person to be picked for the sports teams at school. I knew that if I wanted to lose weight, it wasn’t just my diet that needed to change.

Gym class work out, squats

I decided to jump onto the fitness bandwagon and try out every exercise I could. I started trying to do something every day, even if I just went out for a walk I made sure I did something. Three months ago I joined the gym and now I go 4 to 5 times a week. I mix up my workouts as much as possible so that no one week is the same. I swim, run and do weight-training! However about a month ago I hit a wall, I no longer had the energy to go to the gym after a long day at work. I still had weight to lose but not the energy to lose it, I knew I had to make some changes

Drinking water

When I started looking into what would give me more energy during my workouts, water came up time and time again. I wasn’t convinced that drinking more water would give me more energy but to my surprise it did! I started drinking 2 litres a day and before I knew it started feeling a lot more energetic. I realised that for the amount of exercise I had been doing, I hadn’t been drinking anywhere near enough water which could have been making me feel more tired. Nowadays, I always keep a water bottle on me!

Eating the right foods

Although I was now eating healthily, I realised that I needed to include some foods in my diet that would give me some more energy. I started eating more fruit, particularly bananas and apples, I found that increasing the amount of fruit I ate provided me with more energy. Fruit is packed with antioxidants and vitamins which are great for your health.

Caffeine

When I decided to lose weight, I knew that I had to cut out my morning cappuccinos that were packed full of fat and sugar. For a while, I had hardly any caffeinated drinks but when I started feeling tired I thought they might help. I began drinking two cups of tea a day and noticed that my energy levels were a lot higher than before. Now it’s summer I’m not drinking really drinking hot drinks so instead I have started taking two Forza Acai Berry capsules a day, one after breakfast and one after lunch. The capsules contain caffeine which means that I no longer feel as tired in the evenings.

Cup of tea

Anyone who exercises regularly will know that it’s sometimes hard to find the energy to workout. I’ve found though that making small changes to my diet has had a big effect on my energy levels and allowed me to get over the wall that I hit a month ago!
