FORZA Proteus Label Scoops Printer of the Year Award for Label Apeel

A few months back, it was revealed that Kent diet firm FORZA Supplements had teamed up with experienced label printers Label Apeel to produce a potential award-winning design. And on Monday night (21st October), at the PrintWeek Awards 2013, Label Apeel was finally confirmed as the Label Printer of the Year – courtesy of the work done on FORZA’s Proteus pre-workout powder.

The Proteus label blew away the competition and was described by the judges as showing “beautiful print and stunning attention to detail combined with elegant application of appropriate pro cesses and stock selection.” The Leicester-based company printed the silver polypropylene on a digital press, putting down two hits of black for good density. The labels were then put through an AB Graphic Digicon finishing line for an all-over matt over-printable varnish before going through a second time, adding screen and spot-gloss finishes. The result was a high-build screen finish, combined with the silver substrate making the Proteus name leap off the label, giving the product added shelf presence. A variety of different processes give this high-impact label a look that most traditional print processes would find hard to achieve.

The Label Apeel team were presented the award by the host of the evening, TV presenter and comedian Dara O’Briain. When asked about his experience of collaborating with FORZA, Label Apeel Managing Director Stuart Kellock said: “Working with the team at FORZA has been an absolute pleasure. The two companies share a passion for excellence and the end result is an absolutely fantastic design which has been captured in print perfectly. “We were thrilled with the results and can’t wait for the next project. This is a shining example of two award-winning companies coming together to create something that is greater than the sum of its not inconsiderable parts.”

The product itself has also been created to the same high standard, combining recognised stimulants, powerful nitric oxide generators and high-impact strength providers. The instantised powder comes in two delicious flavours and mixes effortlessly into a smooth, sweet and invigorating pre-workout performance drink. After visiting the Label Apeel team in Leicester to congratulate them on their efforts, FORZA Brand Manager Nigel Davison said: “Label Apeel have once again proved that they are more than capable of taking our ideas and putting them into practice. “However, we are now moving on to even bigger projects and hope that this award-winning collaboration continues to deliver the goods.”
